Call unto me and I will answer you, and will show you great and mighty things, which you know not."

 Jeremiah 33:`3

Talk to God as to a friend, and when you pray, express your needs and desires to Him, and claim his Promises, making them your very own.

Claim them as if He were speaking them directly to you, and as if He, our dearest Friend, were giving you His assurance that He will do great and marvelous things for you, and will keep His promise to you..

“He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.”

Psalm 102:17

The word destitute means lacking in something needed, or desirable; as in destitute of needed possessions and resources, like suffering extreme poverty.

God looks down in compassion on the poor and needy, the hungry, the thirsty, the cold and the homeless.

So does He also consider those who hunger for wisdom and understanding; and who may be destitute of soul graces - love and mercy, sympathy and compassion.

We may have riches untold, and may have everything we could ever need or desire, and still be lacking, and even destitute in the finer graces of life --

being destitute of caring and concern for those less fortunate than we, or those who don't seem to meet our standards or expectations --

those we may have chosen to dislike or despise.

But, when we recognize that inner need, and the soul cries out to God for help, then we have at our very finger-tips the firm assurance in His promise,

that He will regard our destitution of soul, and will answer, and not despise our prayer.

Our God is Mighty.

His word to us through the scriptures gives us strength and inspiration.

His promises inspire us.

Blessed is the man that trusts in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes,

but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7,8

"In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

Proverbs 3:6

Acknowledge Him by recognizing Him as your Sovereign God.  Be in one accord and in agreement with Him. Acknowledge Him by the heartfelt expression of appreciation and gratitude.

His promise is that He will show you the way, and will guide your steps, directing your path, making known to you the way in which  you should go.

He will lead you and open the way for you.

“Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

It shall be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones”

Proverbs 3: 7-8

He counsels us to depart from all evil, from all sin and wretchedness, and from all that brings sorrow, distress, and calamity;

to put away all evil and sinful dispositions and thought.

He encourages us to not be wise in our own eyes.  Even though we may think we have it all together, and are wise, being satisfied in all we do and in all we accomplish in life, the word of the Lord tells us we are not so wise, the wisdom we receive comes from above.

Let us have, instead, a reverential, profound reverence and awe toward God.  Giving Him thanks and praise for the wisdom He gives us, and helping us in making wise choices, and achieving great accomplishments.

His promise to us is to give us a sound body, mind, and spirit that the condition of the whole person will be in health and be free from disease and pain.

He will give us strength of mind, body, and soul, and will give us the essential food we need for the health of our bones.
